DATA, THE FUEL FOR THE ENERGY TRANSITION. ENECO SMART ENERGY GRID

Eneco aims to be completely CO2 neutral by 2035. This requires a lot of data from the energy network to quickly and finely match supply and demand. The IoT platform provides a very fine-grained and almost real-time image of the entire energy grid. They can also send messages back over the network to influence generation and consumption within the network.

A team of Conclusion AMIS and Eneco realized this network with Microsoft Azure components. This makes the smart grid flexible and applicable for a large number of business cases. The network now has 12,000 connected devices and processes 5 million messages every day. The realized use cases for district heating, central heating boilers, maintenance, sun and wind contribute directly to Eneco’s objectives.

Eneco deals with the approach, organizational complexity and the realization of business cases. They also share a number of best practices.

The approach and result of this project earned Eneco a Computable Awards nomination for best large corporate project of 2021.
